WARDOGS / FIELD NOTES

The spawn APC: your team's forward respawn

At 20 points the APC unlocks, and the team that parks it well stops running two minutes to every fight. It is also the largest single cash prize on the map for whoever kills it.

What the 20 point threshold opens

Two things unlock once a team has scored its first 20 points. The APC, an armoured personnel carrier that works as a mobile spawn beacon while it is stationary inside the control zone, and attack aircraft, the miniguns and rockets that change what the air over the objective looks like. Before that threshold neither exists, which is why the opening stretch of a match is on foot and in soft vehicles.

Parking it is the whole skill

The APC only spawns people while it is stopped, so where you leave it is the entire decision. Drive it up to the fighting and every teammate who spawns on it pays you cash and XP, which makes it one of the better earners available to a driver. Leave it somewhere obvious and it becomes the most hunted object on the map. Spawning on it carries a cooldown of around five minutes, so treat it as a rotation tool for the team rather than a reinforcement loop, and re-site it before it is found rather than after.

Keep it alive with the wrench it came with

Every FOB comes with a hammer and every APC comes with a wrench. Damage stops it doing its job long before it explodes: blown tracks leave it stranded, and a damaged vehicle will not take spawns. Repair it between pushes rather than while people are trying to redeploy onto it. If you are the one driving it, that wrench is the most important thing in your bag.

Two tricks from the driver seat

Once you have spawned into the vehicle you can move into the driver position, which gives you a third-person view of everything around it. That is the cheapest way to check whether the coast is clear before a squad pours out of the back. The APC can also pump smoke: from the driver seat, the smoke control on the right of the screen lays soft cover over the vehicle, which is what buys you the time to move it when it has been caught somewhere bad.

Killing the enemy one, cheaply or profitably

You do not need explosives to shut an enemy APC down. The antenna on the roof, the one rotating while the vehicle is spawnable, is the spawn system. Shoot it off and the enemy team stops appearing there, with no demolition run required. If it is money you want rather than tempo, walking an IED or a stack of C4 onto it is worth tens of thousands of dollars and a large pile of XP, which turns an obvious suicide mission into one of the best paid actions in the game. The money farming guide ranks it against the safer ways to earn.

An APC parked near the fighting pays you every time a teammate spawns on it, and marks you as the position everyone is looking for.

Explosives are for the payday. If you only want the spawns stopped, the rotating roof antenna is the cheaper target.
