MW4 DMZ / FIELD NOTES
MW4 DMZ: ten starting tips for cash, kit and progression
A good first run starts before the helicopter. TheGigaDad's 21 October guide covers expensive Gunsmith mistakes, recovery supplies, trait choices and a launch-week XP method. Here is the practical checklist, with his observations kept separate from verified game rules.

Quick card
- Start here
- Gunsmith and stash checks before deployment
- Milestone
- DMZ level 10 for Gunsmith, according to the source
- Carry
- Medkits, plates and space for useful materials
- Settings
- Check whether tactical sprint cancels your reload
- Evidence
- Launch-week creator observations, not a measured XP benchmark
1. Inspect blueprint costs before confirming
At 1:06, TheGigaDad opens Gunsmith and checks owned blueprint builds for an initial free copy. At 1:45 he reports a Volt Spine AK redemption draining his funds. Check the displayed total and your balance; this report does not establish a universal bug or a fix.
2. Choose Squad Fill deliberately
At 2:19 he turns Squad Fill off to play alone and says he met other solos rather than trios. That describes his sessions. Plan for hostile players and watched extraction points even when your early raids feel quiet.
3. Bring recovery supplies and target materials
At 3:57 he explains that getting up with a tourniquet is not the same as fully recovering health. Look for medkits in clinics. Use the material-location hint in the upgrade menu: his examples point Rigid Synthetics toward residential areas and Electronic Sensors toward commercial areas.
4. Keep higher-rarity guns when they save slot costs
At 5:52 his example charges 50,000 for a fifth attachment slot, then another 7,000 for the attachment. A looted gun with useful slots may be cheaper to adapt than a basic gun is to build up. These are dated examples, not a fixed price list.
5. Pick traits around the job
His 7:03 discussion favours Warfighter and Quick Fix for repeated fights, then Scout for operation cash and hostile-loot benefits. Lesser traits can vary. Read the actual choices on your operator instead of assuming his exact tree will appear on yours.
6. Level a gun you can use well
At 10:14 he shows attachment unlocks shared with weapons he has barely used. His advice is to start with a dependable gun rather than deliberately struggle with the weakest option. Shared attachments do not prove that every weapon gains identical weapon levels.
7. Give reticle challenges a purpose
At 12:35 he checks custom reticle requirements. If you want a particular aiming mark, equip a suitable optic and read its challenge before grinding. Exact optic names and recoil percentages from the automatic captions are not treated here as confirmed balance data.
8. Match kills to the camo requirement
At 14:27 he warns that explosive chain kills can consume enemies you need for gun challenges. Read the current challenge wording. A powerful clearing setup may be unhelpful when the objective specifically needs kills with your chosen weapon.
9. Stop tactical sprint breaking your reload
At 15:43 he uses Sprint Assist with no delay and switches Tactical Sprint Cancels Reload off. If you use that movement setup, check the same interaction in your controls. His recommendation concerns reload behaviour, not a promise that one settings preset suits everyone.
10. Farm XP with ammunition and an exit
From 17:54 he describes fighting repeated AI waves near an ammo cache in a high-threat area, using cover against helicopters. He reports rapid progression but supplies no measured XP curve. Leave time to extract; staying until the final helicopter also exposes what you already earned.
What still needs checking
Blueprint prices, the reported redemption problem, matchmaking behaviour and XP rewards may change. TheGigaDad expects possible adjustments himself. This is a dated route through his advice, not proof of an exponential XP multiplier, guaranteed solo matchmaking or an enduring best build.
Source briefing and Wing Mait relevance
Source: TheGigaDad's video linked above. We reviewed its automatic captions silently and rewrote the advice. Costs, recovery prompts and challenge text are useful future screen-reading cues. Wing Mait support for MW4 DMZ remains in development; this article does not claim those callouts are available today.
