Place a SAM where it can work
SwoleBenji's Talon tower is useful for its placement checks and demonstrated failure cases. Its title's strongest-base claim is not a guarantee.

Air traffic and terrain come first
A high position needs useful views of the aircraft routes without a nearby hill exposing the seated operator. The source includes a site with no air targets because it was too far from the action. Scout the location before spending on the truck, pallets, FOB and launcher.
Do not build an accidental staircase
The tower uses concrete walls and a perimeter of hedgehogs. SwoleBenji demonstrates how a truck, badly placed blocks or traps too close to the wall can create a climb route. Walk the outside as an attacker would, then check the friendly entrance and access to the Talon.
Plan for exposure and repairs
Protect the foundation, keep repair supplies available and have a teammate check how your seated character appears. The source reports a seat-position bug that exposed the operator. Its missile costs and break-even figures belong to that September run; kills, profit and raid resistance are not guaranteed.
