WARDOGS MG nest: the bunker build for Season 2 FOB defence
Season 2 added a machine gun nest that gives you a manned M2 Browning. HitboTC spent 18 minutes finding out where it belongs. His answer is a bunker, a wooden step and the nest on top. We priced it at the Season 2 menu, set it beside our building costs and asked where it fits in a drill defence.

What the MG nest is
Season 2 added a machine gun nest to the build menu. It gives you a manned M2 Browning, costs 521 build supplies at the in-game menu price (the patch notes list 650) and needs a large hammer. HitboTC calls it one of his new favourite builds, says it can go in many places, including tower windows and building windows, and says it hits very hard. We have not measured its damage, range or arc, and no source we have read gives them. His approach is to think in layers and in deployment speed, because a base is under threat most of the time. That is the lens for everything below: which placement is quick, which one protects the gunner, and which one leaves the gun a clear view.
What the parts cost
These are build supplies at the in-game menu price we read on 17 October 2026, with the patch-note figure alongside. HitboTC gives no prices, so every number here is ours. The nest is the expensive part: it is 521 of the 695 a basic bunker nest costs, and that whole build is about a third of a Drill Rig (2,201 at the menu). We plan the run before the build. One build pallet holds 1,800 build supplies, so it carries two bunker nests with 410 left over, or three bare nests with 237 left.
| Part | Season 2 menu | Patch notes say |
|---|---|---|
| MG nest (M2 Browning) | 521 | 650 |
| Bunker | 161 | 200 |
| Wooden step | 13 | Not stated |
| Indirect Fire Shelter | 161 | 200 |
| Large shelter | 201 | 250 |
| Bremer wall | 27 | 32 |
The build HitboTC would use: bunker, step, nest
After trying towers, shelters and walls, HitboTC settles on the bunker. Put a bunker down, put a wooden step on it and put the nest on top. He says you get a great view, the crew is well protected, and it takes very little building time, which is why he calls it the quick way to set up a FOB under threat. He has two upgrades. Put an indirect fire structure underneath the bunker for guard tower height, or stack two bunkers for more height, which lets you keep your Bremer walls without them blocking the gunner's field of fire. He says the bunker with indirect support will probably be his main way to place the nest. We read his indirect fire structure as the Indirect Fire Shelter and have priced it that way.
| Version | Parts | Total |
|---|---|---|
| Single bunker nest | Bunker 161, Wooden step 13, MG nest 521 | 695 |
| Raised bunker nest | The single nest on top of an Indirect Fire Shelter (161) | 856 |
| Double bunker nest (our reading) | Two bunkers 322, Wooden step 13, MG nest 521 | 856 |
| Large shelter nest (our reading) | Large shelter 201, reversed bunker 161, MG nest 521, plus Bremers at 27 | 883 plus walls |
Why the plain guard tower loses
HitboTC starts with what not to do. Putting the nest straight onto a standard guard tower leaves the gunner badly exposed from the front, an easy target. He improves the tower in steps. Take out the ladder and build steps inside the tower for height. Destroy the roof to open the firing position. Use sandbags for cover without closing the view. His most useful find is that sandbags can be stacked on top of the nest, and they rise with the gun as it elevates. That lets you choose your own cover and your own viewing angle. He also says Bremer walls matter for most base designs but can block the nest's line of sight, which is the problem the double bunker is meant to solve.
Fields of fire and cover
What we take from him is three things: height, an open front and cover that moves with the gun. A nest on a step on a bunker sits above wall height, and sandbags on the nest give you cover that follows your aim. Our reading, which we have not tested: face the nest at the approach you fear most, keep the wall ring below the barrel, and never put a Bremer in the lane you want to shoot down. No source gives the nest's arc or range, so we cannot draw it in the builder or give you a number. When someone measures it, we will add it.
The Large shelter variant
The Large shelter is the other Season 2 addition, 201 at the menu and a medium hammer or above. HitboTC surrounds it with Bremer walls, reverses a bunker so you have to crawl in, adds a roof, and ends with a position three Bremer blocks high with several viewing angles. He then previews a mortar bunker built around the shelter, and says he is trying mortars one block away from it for extra range, at the price of more exposure. That is a concept from a separate video he said is coming, so we treat it as an idea and not a build.

How it fits a drill defence
This section is our view, not his. At Season 2 prices we think a few drills, each properly defended, with nests covering them and a squad that calls targets, is a better spend than one huge FOB. A bunker nest costs 695, about a third of a Drill Rig, so a pair covering the likely approaches to a drill is cheap next to losing it. HitboTC does not say what the nest can engage, and we have not tested it against aircraft or vehicles, so we plan air defence and mortars the way we did before. His own rule is the one we would keep: a nest that is up when the attack arrives beats a perfect one that is not.
Failure modes
The exposed gunner. A nest placed straight onto a plain guard tower, as HitboTC shows, gets the gunner killed from the front. The blocked view. A Bremer wall too close to the gun can cut the line of sight. Check the view from the gunner's seat before you finish the walls. The slow build. An elaborate tower that is not finished when the attack comes does nothing. HitboTC says quick setup matters because bases are under constant threat. Two of ours, untested. A single nest is one gun and one point of failure, and an unmanned nest does nothing. And in Season 2 an unfinished structure collapses if its support is lost, so finish the bunker, and the shelter under it, before you place the nest on top.
Step by step
This is our write-up of the bunker build HitboTC describes, with our prices. 1. Choose the ground. Pick the spot where the nest has to see, and the approach you want it to cover. 2. Build the bunker (161) and finish it. For the taller version, build it on an Indirect Fire Shelter (161) first. 3. Place a Wooden step on the bunker (13). 4. Place the MG nest on the step (521, large hammer). That is 695 in total, 856 with the shelter. 5. Stack sandbags on the nest for cover and test the view. They rise with the gun. 6. Add Bremer walls only outside the line of fire. 7. Put someone on the gun. Our base builder lists the nest and the Wooden step but cannot place them yet, because nobody has measured them. You can plan the bunker, the shelter and the walls there today.
Sources and what we are unsure of
Everything about the build comes from HitboTC's video, published 16 October 2026. The creator credit was checked through YouTube: the channel is HitboTC, at youtube.com/@HitboTC. We worked from an automatic summary of the video, not frame by frame, so check his video for the exact layout of each version, in particular which pieces make his double bunker. He gives no costs, sizes, arcs, ranges, damage or ammunition figures, so there is nothing of his to set against ours. The prices come from the Wing Mait team's reading of the Season 2 menu on 17 October 2026, and the patch-note figures come from SC Haulers. The menu lists the MG nest at 521 and the M2 Browning's size is still unmeasured, which is why the builder cannot place it. The summary says brimstone walls, which we read as Bremer walls, and indirect fire structure, which we read as the Indirect Fire Shelter. The sandbags-rise-with-the-gun behaviour is his observation, not ours. If your game shows something different, tell us on Discord and we will fix it.
