FOB and progression: traits, Bank, Gunsmith and 3D Printer

Modern Warfare 4 launches on 23 October 2026, and on 8 October Call of Duty published a DMZ Progression trailer that shows the FOB screens for the first time. This is our running page for what the sources confirm about the FOB, traits, the Bank, the Stash, the Gunsmith and the 3D Printer, with the gaps marked.

Launch, modes and what changed on 8 October

Modern Warfare 4 arrives on 23 October 2026, and DMZ, set in the Hajin Exclusion Zone, supports solo or squad deployment. The deploy screen in public footage offers Dynamic Operations, Free Roam and a Single Squad Mission. This page used to be a placeholder waiting for FOB intel. The Part 2 FOB guide that the Call of Duty team promised has not appeared yet, but the official Progression trailer has, and it shows the base screens in enough detail to rebuild the page around it. All of it is labelled game engine footage of a game in development, so every number below is a snapshot.

The loop in one paragraph

As the trailer tells it, missions earn XP and Trade Points, and Trade Points buy permanent progression in operator skills along three lines, Warfighter, Scout and Survivalist. Each Active Duty operator keeps a persistent backpack and loadout, the Stash holds what survives, and the Bank funds what comes next. You bring back cash and materials, level up FOB stations, and get weapons by scavenging, buying with cash or building them at the Gunsmith. The 3D Printer turns recovered resources and printer ingredients into armour, backpacks, tacticals, consumables and support gear. The trailer's own summary is that what you take in can be lost, and what you extract improves your next deployment.

FOB stations: day one and earned

Six stations are there from the start: Operators (Active Duty), Stash and Loadout, DMZ Orders, Firing Range, Survival Kits and Deploy. Seven more arrive through progression: the 3D Printer, the Gunsmith, the Vendor (a daily rotation that takes DMZ Cash), the Bounty Leaderboard, the Boss Board (intel on Lieutenants and Commanders), the Dog Tag Case and DMZ Progression. The Progression trailer shows the Deploy pad, the Operators locker, the Stash, the Gunsmith, the 3D Printer, a vehicle bay and a firing range. At which level each station opens, and what the upgrades cost, have not been published. The narration says players level up their stations to expand what they can do, and that is as specific as the footage gets.

Levels, Dog Tags and Active Duty operators

DMZ player level runs from 1 to 70. Separately, Dog Tag levels run from Steel to Onyx III, eighteen of them, and the Part 1 deep dive says each carries an Operator Trait. The trailer fits that exactly: UCTF at Onyx III shows 18 trait points, and Army SF Airborne at a Steel tag shows 2. The Active Duty screen reads ACTIVE DUTY (2/3), so up to three operators can be on duty, and trait points belong to each operator and not to the player. We saw Army SF Airborne, UCTF, CTSFO and Hunter Killer in the operator locker. An empty slot is shown with a plus sign, so a third operator is a decision and not a given.

The Active Duty screen in MW4 DMZ: a UCTF operator card with an Onyx III dog tag and 18 trait points, and two empty operator slots.
Active Duty: UCTF at Onyx III shows 18 trait points, with two slots still empty. Frame from the official Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 DMZ Progression trailer, Activision.

Traits: what is actually named

The trait screen has four columns: Warfighter, Scout, Survivalist and Prestige (a crown, showing 0). Most of the tree is still question marks. The trailer shows four traits with text. Possum, under Warfighter, allows a Self Revive into Last Stand from death, restoring health to maximum, once per match. Killing Spree, also Warfighter, extends active effects on kills, up to twice the duration. Die Hard, under Survivalist, calls the exfil automatically when you approach it in Last Stand, and gives infinite bleed out time while you are in Last Stand. Metabolism, also Survivalist, slowly regenerates health lost to a tourniquet. Per community reports, unconfirmed by us, CODMunity's trait tracker also lists LT Hunter (more intel from Lieutenant Towers), Combat Resistance and Viper Sense (an alert when enemy operators are close) under Warfighter, and names nothing yet under Scout. It labels a further set as leaked, and we are not repeating those.

The Bank, and a cap that moves

Every FOB screen in the Progression trailer shows the Bank at $95,250 or $100,000 out of $100K, at player level 35. The Dynamic Ops trailer showed $225,200 out of $500K at player level 28. Same game, two caps, and the larger one sits on the lower player level, so the cap is not gated by player level. Our read, and it is inference, is that FOB station upgrades raise it. No frame we have seen shows the upgrade that would do so. Earned cash lands in the Bank at the end of a deployment, per the After Action Report, and Dynamic Operations deposit $10,000 to $20,000 the moment they complete. Whatever sets the cap, a full Bank is wasted income, and spending before a deploy is the obvious habit. Infil options appear to draw on the same pool, which is our read and which the infil guide covers.

Stash and loadout

The Stash screen shows 3 of 12 weapons and 19 of 58 items, so those are the limits we can read. The categories are Weapons, Consumables, Plate Carriers, Backpacks, Tacticals, Lethals, Field Upgrades, Fire Support, Gear, Keys, Ingredients and Misc, and the materials are listed as Synthetics, Electronics, Chemicals and Metals. A Basic Pack backpack grid sits beside the loadout, which has eight slots in the frames. Operators can also go missing in action. Earlier footage shows a paid rescue for 50 dollars, and most of that operator's loadout is lost in the flow, so an MIA operator is a cost you plan around.

The 3D Printer

The printer has tabs for Tracked, Upgrades, Consumables, Plate Carriers, Backpacks, Tacticals, Lethals, Field Upgrades, Fire Support, Gear, Ingredients and Development, and it spends four materials: Synthetics, Electronics, Chemicals and Metals. The one recipe we can read in full is the 1-Plate Armor Vest, an Uncommon plate carrier that costs 25 Synthetics and 25 Metals. The frame shows 60 Synthetics and 75 Metals in hand and a Max Printable of 2, which matches 60 divided by 25, so our read is that the cap is simply what your materials allow. Other plate carriers on the list run from a 2-Plate Armor Vest to 3-Plate helmet variants, with a Tempered Armor Vest locked. Consumables include Bandage, Sedative Inhaler, Medkit, Energy Drink, Painkillers and Radiation Blockers. You can Print to Operator, Print to Stash or Track Recipe. Recipes unlock with level, though which recipe opens at which level is not published.

The Gunsmith: slots cost money too

Buy New Weapon lists the HAN 86 (an assault rifle) and the ISO Nightshade (an SMG at 923 rounds per minute, 30 in the magazine, 90 in reserve) with a base price of $3,000 for the Nightshade. Weapons have a level out of 64, and the Nightshade frame shows attachments 1 of 9 with an APEX slot. Each attachment slot costs money on top of the attachment: the first slot is $1,000, and the laser we saw selected is $6,887, with the laser list running from $1,900 to $6,887. Attachments carry a Shared Attachment tag, and there is an Import Weapon Build Code button. The cart shows a Gunsmith Discount of 5% and a build cost of $5,700 for a $3,000 weapon, a $1,900 laser and the $1,000 slot. Those parts add up to $5,900, and 5% off would be $5,605, so the screen and the sums disagree by $95. That is the sort of thing a build in development does, and we would not budget from it.

After Action, enemies and bosses

After every deployment, extracted or not, the After Action Report records recovered loot, Ingredients, rare items and DMZ Cash, rates you from F to S++ across Objectives, Combat and Looting, advances your DMZ level and Dog Tag progress, and confirms completed DMZ Orders before you return to the FOB. AI opposition comes in four tiers: T1 grunts, T2 armoured, T3 armoured with a gas mask and T4 faceless armoured, plus a combat drone swarm, an LMG combat drone and K9 quadrupeds, usually underground. Lieutenants are named high value targets (Gorani and Bale so far), and carrying a Lieutenant's dog tag case broadcasts your position. Commanders are larger, Colossus, Deathstalker and the Main NK Battle Tank among them, and seem impervious to many standard weapons.

Still unknown

We would rather be plain about the gaps than fill them with rumour. We do not know the level at which each station opens or what upgrades cost, what exactly raises the Bank cap, the full trait tree beyond the traits above, how insurance and contraband rules work, what persists after a failed extraction, the maximum squad size, or the exact exfil locations. The weapon level out of 64 and the Gunsmith cart arithmetic come from a development build and may change. If you see a firm number for any of these before the official FOB guide appears, treat it as someone's guess, ours included where we have said so.

Where Wing Mait helps

The FOB is full of crisp text, which is what a screen-reading assistant wants. The Bank line reads as a plain figure against its cap, so a spoken reminder when the Bank is near full before you deploy is an easy callout, and the DMZ Orders panel prints each objective in words, so tracking an order does not need any map work. In the field, Last Stand is a state worth a call of its own, and with Die Hard equipped, a line that the exfil calls itself if you reach it would be useful. All of that is planned. Wing Mait ships today for WARDOGS as a 0.9.5 beta, the DMZ pack is in development and has not been tested on a release build, anti-cheat certification is not done, we do not claim any approval from Activision, and the app watches the screen only. Progress lives on the DMZ hub.
